RS2 turbo upgrade - newbie

Post by wowow » Mon Sep 13, 2010 5:05 am

Hi all, I am new to the RS2 and this forum. The car is amazing and I hope to learn more about it from you all.

Problem : my turbo is coming to the end of its life and I like to get a new set but would like to maintain the current output. Seems like 034's GT28RS is a good match as it gives me slightly more power and also an earlier spool up at 3k rpm. Love to hear your comments.

I am also gonna take apart the engine to replace the pistons and rings..etc ( the guy before me is using some strange configuration and I like to restore it to stock setting ), I wonder if there are any parts upgarde that I should put in there while the engine is taken apart.

Thx guys.

GT28Rs is too small for this engine. I had the GT3071R 0.63AR, spooled faster than the original turbo and made 420hp with about 1.8bar to the red line. Only problem was that with motronic, it was difficult to map as it surged quite a bit, so once i changed to VEMS (aftermarket ECU) i managed to get more potential out of the turbo and with less surge. Overall was very pleased for an everyday use driving.
