Sachs or Luk clutch?

Post by prosty » Mon May 31, 2010 7:07 pm

Hi!

I'm rebuilding my tranny soon, and I'm thinking about changing my clutch at the same time.

My question is, my part supplier can get me Sachs and Luk clutch, I know that the Luk unit is the stock one, but I'm a big Sachs fan since my old S2 days.

Which one is the best for the rs4?

Does anyone here on this forum use the sachs or will I be the first one? :)

Best regards

Markus

Yes but that is the uprated version (atleast the clutch not sure about the PP)

I'm looking for the stock counterpart of LUK / Sachs. I'm not going up more than tuning chip and maybe gutted precats

Not really, mine is really strong, I can go from 1500 rpm in 6th gear without any hassle. I've heard several ppl going up to 470-480 hp with stock clutch

stock clutch is very good for stage 1+, and especially if used for normal road use.

I would stick with the OEM, as some of the suppliers may supply you a S4 clutch which is different. There have been cases of these in the past.

stock rs4 clutch is good for 500 hp and lbft . sachs make the mtm upgrade which is a real leg builder but will never slip. i have a stock rs4 pp and 6 puck spinner plate. should be good for 600/600.

So the new LUK unit is just bolt-on, no SAC on it so I need a special tool or anything? That was the only reason (and price wise) why I wanted to go with Sachs, but Virdee could hook me up with a good price for the Luk unit.

Yes the new clutch will be ready to fit on.

You only need to adjust it, if you are using an old/used clutch

Okay, my local supplier says that you have to use a special tool to fit their LUK clutch, their P/N is 05-400007210, maybe they are mistaken or do they still sell the older part?
Seems like a risk so I'm getting it from you Virdee, just have to finish up my list of complete parts needed. Not that it's that long, I'm just that lazy :)
