Just upgraded my unit to a Kenwood DNX-7200. I've already posted this in the C5 section so sorry for repeating myself. Two questions for anyone whos done this;
Question 1 - How did you get the Aerial signal, the C5 has a series of aerials that are powered and amplified by the RNS-D unit and you seem to loose all this with an aftermarket unit. Options seem to be to replace the roof aerial for which I need to understand how to do this ? E.g is it connected with an ISO or DIN connector and fixed with a 14mm bolt ? If I do this I fancy a Shark Fin but not sure which one to get ? or is there a way of spoofing the aerial control/amp with a power source for example ?
Question 2 - I'm using the ANT CONT power source from the Kenwood unit which seems to remove all the amp popping (I assume by managing a delay from what i have gathered, except for when the unit is switched off or the key from the ignition is removed, effectively switching off again. In this case I get the pop. Anyone got a solution to this ?

I installed my Kenwood 9260BT 2 weeks ago, though I haven't finished it yet. Was working fine but with popping noise as you describe. I tried connecting the ANT CONT to the blue wire on the aerial connector (as pictured in the next post link) and the radio reception improved considerably. What did you connect the ANT CONT to? And if the same as me, did it kill your battery?
And have you now got a solution to the popping?

Right, I've sorted it out. I assume you have the same Autolead connector PC9-410 as I do (though probably same with 409...). Basically, the battery and ignition leads are the wrong way round to connect to the ISO on the Kenwood. Swap the Red and Yellow leads around and your popping will disappear (hopefully!). If your red lead coming out of the Kenwood has a spare connector T'd off, connect that to the blue/white lead from the Autolead BOSE connector. And hopefully it will resolve the reason why my battery was dead - probably not good leaving the stereo on permanently!!

paddybrenn thanks for the post - I finally got some time to re-fit my DNX7200. I've fitted a internal powered aerial which seems to give a great signal so have now solved the aerial problem. I tried the Aerial amplifier CT27AA05 (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-Audi-Skoda-Sea ... 2c5127cd6a) got zero signal with that. This aerial is great, self adhered behind the glove box and works a treat. I'm going to have a look at your suggestion of swapping the 12v ignition with the pemanent 12v. Problem is I'm not using that part fo the Autolead lead. I just went direct to reduce the amount in the rear.... need to go, back later.

Update on this, your right the red and the yellow when swapped I seem to have solved the memory problem, so I now need to check to see if I get any problems with the battery, but I don't think I will. I gather from the small print on the wires that the yellow one is for the constant supply and the red for the ignition so i assume the unit has some supply for memory now its swapped. So the only remaining problem is that I am still getting the popping noise when I take the key out of the ignition or tunr the unit off. I wonder if there is supressor I can buy ? Might do another post or have a search.
