Faulty Fuel Gauge

Post by Kaapse_Laaitie » Sun Feb 14, 2010 1:10 am

Hi all. My fuel gauge gives me different readings every time I start the car. More times it shows that the car is empty ever after filling the car to the brim. I'm not sure if I have a fuel gauge problem or a sensor problem. Anyone have vagcom in Sutton, Surrey? Any have a ballparK figure as to what a sensor replacement will cost me?

All the B5 boys are over on AudiSRS.

Someone over there had this recently and it was the fuel level sender at fault.

B5 has a 'known' sender reliability problem, so yes, that is the likely cause.

99% sure it will be the earth wire between the sender float and unit re solder a bit of wire in at fuel gauge is fixed
