Intermittant Seat Belt Warning

Post by no_RS » Sun Jan 31, 2010 8:42 pm

Had a trip to London yesterday and on the way home was getting an intermittant seat belt warning, little red warning on the dash and constant silly bong as well which was quite irritating.

I'm assuming this is probably a sensor either in the seat belt anchor or in the seat base, any suggestions on what's wrong and how to fix as I don't fancy being rogered by a dealer.

Thanks

Pete

Hi

Don't want to point out the obvious but did you have anything on the front passenger seat? Seat belt warning will activate if it senses any weight on the seat base. Mine activates sometimes with a 3/4 full large bottle of water on it.

If that is not the answer I hope you find someone more tech than me who can help you out.

Good luck.

Mine sometimes comes on when I leave my laptop on it. Usually feel pretty stupid when I do it again!

I guess you could test by plugging the passenger seat belt in next time you drive and see if the light/bong comes on again... right?

Just disabled seat belt warning on mine, it's only used to increase the Euro NCAP rating of car and irritates me as I always drive with it on anyway but sometimes I have to drive a few metres to close a gate behind me and away it bongs.
Anyway using VAG COM.
Select instruments, the coding then change the 6th digit of the coding from 4 to 0 - mine is a 2006 MY B7 with coding of 0007441 from factory. Now it's 0007401.

I had my coat on the seat with a bottle of water, if this had triggered the seat warning it would have done this all the time not just randomly half way down the M4, hasn't done it since which is just typical..
