Failed rear foglight warning

A bit of history...

Around July last year the info. screen came up with a warning that the rear LHS fog light had failed. I checked and sure enough the said foglight did not work. The MOT was due a few weeks later and I had been reminded almost every time I started the car that this bulb had failed.

I mentioned it to my local garage when they did the MOT. When I went to collect the car the response was 'there is no near side foglight so it's not a MOT issue' and oddly enough the warning disappears. Anyway, the months roll by and no warning appears so I forget about it.

Move the clock forward 12 months ( and just after the next MOT is completed) and guess what, the warning that the near side rear foglight is kaput comes up. Car goes for service; I mention it to the guy who collects the car and sure enough he confirms that the warning is on whilst he drives to the Audi dealership for service.

On returning the car, they've done b*****r all as when the car went in the shop it wasn't displaying the warning.

Driver returns the car, confirms that he told the workshop that the warning was on but after driving the car back to me - no warning.

24 hrs later warning comes on!

What I do know is that there is no rear nearside foglight. The message is completely eroneous. Does anyone know why this might crop up or how it can be fixed as a blown bulb symbol permanently displayed on the info. display is just a tad annoying when the b****y thing doesn't even exist and to top it off the dealership takes no notice of my issue just because it wasn't displayed when the car was in the workshop!
