brake's a few questions

Post by sfrs4 » Sun Aug 30, 2009 11:28 am

after selling a few old bit's from my gtr days i've got some money to spend on a upgrade, i was after a b7 set but can't find a set anywhere now i want one. so i have been looking at other set's but most manufactures only go as high as 6 pot calipers and 330mm disc's.
So my questions are what are the sizes of the pot's on the b7 rs4 set's? so i can figure out actual force area applied and compair to others.
How easy are the b7 rs4 ones to fit? is it just straight bolt on?
And has anyone else had expereance's with both b7 rs4 set's and an aftermarket set?
How easy to fit and good are the porsche setup's i've heard about?
I apolgise for my spelling, but it's never been to good.

Aren't Porker ones similar to the B7 RS4 ones? But need a carrier to fit?

Brembo make calipers for the RS4 & Porsche, so they are similar. It comes down to the quality of the discs and temp range of the pads. The drilled RS4 discs are a PITA to keep the holes clean, so you might want to look at alternatives from the Audi stable (speak to Grizz). The RS6 pads are great for fast road use if you go down the B7 caliper route.

Just changed my second set of B7 discs for Phaeton's. Initial findings are good, however my next rack day at Oulton Park will test them fully!!

B7 discs are very prone to warp and the holes crack badly.

Yes same size and around half the price! Not drilled, however made by the same manufacturer as the B7's, in Italy

You will need the B7 "hats" though as the Phaeton's are different. 10 minutes to swap over.
