Does anyone recognise the following fault/symptom?

A new Air-flow sensor was changed by Audi after this the Engine light came on (and then goes off periodically), no change in the drive.

This is from an advert I've seen - I'm trying to establish why the owner can't go and get it checked out, but thought someone from here may be able to advise??

I asked the guy the guy the same question and he effectively told me to get stuffed.
I'm guessing that he knows something.
I intend to steer clear, however it could be a bargain.
