Yes they have their problems, but what other family car can you get the same smile from the use of the loud pedal?
Its practical, good looking (IMO) and easy to drive (in any weather). If you do get it, get the dealer to throw in a full Audi warranty...then you can't go too wrong in the first year (IMHO), but it's not going to be cheap to run...but its worth it, a true love affair..your head says no, but your heart says yes...listen to your heart for once and buy it...

Warranty is a must mate if you're thinking of getting one, either that or a good amount of savings.
Theyre great when they run, but theyre getting old now, and irrespective of mileage, things inevitably start to go wrong.
Gearbox alone can sap up 4-5k and coils to replace DRC around 1.5k.
Other than that, theres nothing much out there that can touch them

if the DRC is shot then you are (only) looking at c£1500 to replace it with a proper suspension setup. So this alone should not put you off.
As everyone has said though, its a 60k car with running costs to match
Had mine a couple of months now, still smiling every time I start her up!

Uber amazing car. Period.
I love my car to death, in many ways more than the missus.
But like the guys on here said, its not cheap to run. When the do go wrong they tend to go wrong in a not so simple way. Speak to different warranty companies before you buy because they are all trying to worm out of covering the RS6 due to the DRC issue. That said, don't be put off. Oh, and sometimes it helps to listen to the wife. Although mine did say ,'Buy It!!', once i took her for a test drive. lol

if the car has full audi history Audi are now doing a good will jesture of sorting DRC for cars up to 6yrs old and 120k miles - speak to Rob Chorley in the Camberley service dept.
Gearbox is hit and miss to be honest - some go some last 000's of miles with no probs. Chipped ones last far less than standard. A fluid change can help prolong the life. Specialists can also sort any problems.
Servicing wise - main dealer are variable in quality and Knowlegde. Camberley, Aylesbury, Northampton and Glasgow are the ones I know of who are good.
Specialists like MRC Tuning, APS and Unit 20 (Grizz) are 60% of the price of main dealers and know these cars inside out back to front!
Iconic car and best time to buy as the values have hit rock bottom.
not a car to be doing 20-30k miles a year in though unless you've won the lottery !
enjoy and pls feel free to PM me if you need further advice

Thanks Rich for the support i made my mind up now if the car turns out to be a good one i am going to get it, i will just put some extra money aside to have the DRC removed at a later date what sort of cost would it be to replace the whole system? and who is the best company to do it?

Good choice Bobby - you won't regret it.
There's prob half a dozen places around the country that can replace your DRC. I've not had it done but I would go with one of the specialists myself Unit 20 in cheshire, APS at Brackley or MRC at oxford, who have done lots before. All contribute to these forums. google will get their tel no's. I think its around £1,400 + VAT from memory but that depends on the type / manufacture of shocks as well so best call them.
