Tyres.. Again.. Sorry!
Tyres.. Again.. Sorry!
I know there are numerous threads around and I have tried to search many of them but can't find a definate answer (if there is one).
I've got an 07/07 which needs two front tyres in the near future. Currently on CS3 255/35/19. The car has SS+. Now, do I just change front 2 with more of the same (Approx £190 each) or change all four for Goodyear Eagle Asym 275/30/19. I have read that the goodyear produce less road noise and better handling once you get over the "run-in" period. Any known problems on the rear with the goodyears and SS+.
Any advice appreciated.

I've just (this morning) had Micheldever switch mine over from SC3s to Eagle Asyms (in OE size) and it's immediately apparent that they tramline much less. Of course, this is a very early impression between new & well worn tyres. Be interesting to see how they bed in. Can't really see why SS+ should be a factor but I'm sure someone will enlighten us...........

Re: Tyres.. Again.. Sorry!
Go for 4 of the 275/30 Goodyears - I've had them since last June and they are easily the best tyres I've had on my RS4 so far (also had Pzero Rossos and PS2s). In the recent cold and icy weather they have been superb.tbloke99 wrote:do I just change front 2 with more of the same (Approx £190 each) or change all four for Goodyear Eagle Asym 275/30/19.

If I could do more mileage to wear down my Michelins, I'd swap to the Goodyears straight away. I just can't justify changing them while I still have 6mm all round.
RE: Re: Tyres.. Again.. Sorry!
What worries me about 275/30s and SS+ is the added complication of DRC failure. When my fronts went (first time) there was a visible drop in NSR ride height - apparently caused by fluid being diverted to the leaking front. My concern is that, even if 275/30s are OK with SS+ under "normal" conditions, will they catch if the rear drops?

No problems with Goodyear 275/30s and SS+.
Don't see why it should be affected if ride height drops because of DRC problems. Even if it does the the wheel/tyre should still follow exactly the same path as it would when it moves through the suspension travel in operation.
