Fitting RS4 (B5) brakes
Fitting RS4 (B5) brakes
I've got hold of a complete B5 RS4 brake set up and am looking forward to getting these on my facelift 2000 S4.
Do I need anything except the, calipers, carriers, hoses, & pads?
I can't find a fitting guide anywhere and I've read that some people need to extend or replace the handbrake cable?
Also I've read that some people have replaced the brake hoses? Is this out of choice or is it necessary?
Is it a hard job to swap these for a competent mechanic, how many hours are we talking?
Any answers much appreciated.

RE: Fitting RS4 (B5) brakes
No you don't necessarily need anything else.
The front is easy, just bolt in.
In the rear, you have to use RS4 brake cables, or "stretch" the old one by sliding it back a little. To do that, you have to press the black support thing's lock clips which is in the control arm and pull the cable back.
The install wont take many hours, maybe two or three.

RE: Fitting RS4 (B5) brakes
Thanks Okkim, where is this black support clip that you talk about, on the rear caliper?
I assume you have 18" wheels to fit over the new Front brakes.
As okkim has told you, "press the black support thing's lock clips which is in the control arm and pull the cable back"
When I did mine I got hold of some new RS4 cables which are longer and fit perfectly.
Do you have the RS4 backplates for the rear? The S4 ones will be too small or you can run without.
