1st service due - any advice?

Post by mjc_rs4 » Thu Nov 20, 2008 4:50 pm

Hi everyone, my RS4 is due for it's first service in the next couple of weeks. Is there anything I need to know, ie best dealer ( I live in Exeter, so feedback on Exeter Audi welcome), and the issues re DRC worry me - is there anything I need to ask the dealer to be checking? I rang Exeter Audi and they said they knew nothing of DRC problems with the B7 RS4, only with the old RS6.

Any advice appreciated, even if it's that I need to know nothing!!

Don't got to Exeter Audi then - any Audi dealer who hasn't heard of the DRC issues with the B7 RS4 should be kept well clear of - they've all been sent a letter by Audi UK!

The fact that the dealer knows nothing of DRC problems with the RS4 would indicate to me that you might need to look further afield for someone to service your car...

They are either lying or stupid or both.

I think I'll call them again and ask to speak to someone else if the first person says he's never heard of any problems re DRC with the RS4, as the last guy said.

Does anyone know anywhere better within a reasonable distance that would have experience of these things? As far as I'm aware both Plymouth and Taunton Audi are the same chain as Exeter so presumably all much of a muchness.

And how far wrong can they go with their washing/valeting skills??! Just out of curiousity!

Each time my car has been to my local dealership they have managed to mar the paint ( even without washing it!) Needless to say I have had them correct it each time but as for washing;they can do quite a bit of damage dependant on how serious/fussy you are about your paintwork.

Guildford are still blissfully unaware of any DRC issues - "Nothing wrong with your car" they said...

As for valeting, they wont do too much harm to the paint with one wash as audi paints are quite tough, but they usually leave it to dry naturally, so you will get drip marks all over. Also, more annoying, if you wash the calipers with standard detergents, the decals will fade quickly - as mine have! Its just best to tell them not to touch it.

I disagree... the paints are hard, but damage CAN be done with one wash...

That's not a valid assumption - Basingstoke, Camberley and Guildford Audi are all owned by Colbornes - but Basingstoke and Guildford don't have a clue about the RS4, but Camberley are absolutely great. The difference? - they have guys who work there that love RS's and care about getting them right.

Idiots using cheap Sponges.....i.e. one of the major causes of swirl marks!
