RS4 vs AMV8 Roadster
RS4 vs AMV8 Roadster
Ok, there has been a bit too much chat about the RS getting blown away by other cars on the forum recently so I thought I would lighten the mood. Just went down to the South of France with a mate with a new AMV8 roadster and another mate in a 3.2 TT.
I can confirm that the Rs is significantly faster than the AM when you hit 5/6k revs, great look on my mate's face when my estate car pulled away on the autoroute - also carrying most of his luggage!
His car looks and sounds amazing though.

RE: RS4 vs AMV8 Roadster
My sisters ex fella had an AM Roadster and he was a bit pissed of when i was sat mm from his rear all the way home. there was times when i could have moved up on him too ! keep teasing some of the local cars but all drivers to stuck up and old
2007 Murgello Blue RS4 B7 Avant, High Flow Cats, Non Res Milltek, AMD Map, Solar Roof, the list goes on...........!
I took a coupe out a few months ago and apart from it being a fantastic looking car i can summarise as follows.
1) Far too loud and no where near as nice sounding as rs4.
2) Because its so loud you expect it to be faster.
3) Hugely uncomfortable, for me, I had to cut drive short as my back had cramped up.
4) Very fidgity.
Before my drive I really wanted one, after I just couldnt wait to get back into rs4.
I really miss my RS4 and I have come to realise apart from something like a 997 GT3 there is nothing up to 80k that I would want.

I had an AMV8 coupe as a 'weekend car' until a few months ago, it is a lovely car to own but nothing special to drive and despite the sound the engine was pretty gutless at the top end. I don't suffer back problems but after an hour at the wheel I would be in pain, despite trying every seat position possible. The RS4 is a different car entirely, but it handles better and goes better, doesn't sound quite as good and can't match the looks but in every other respect it is a better car. IMHO
Im sure i posted this a while back but the first car i took out was very fidgity in that the front and rear seemed to move independant of each other, there was also a feeling that there was something slightly loose in the steering column. The salesman even said that it didnt feel right, maybe pressures etc, so we went back and got another, although this one was better I had no confidence to drive it fast.
The seat was a pain to get in the right position as it is restricted by the rear bulk head, its okay if you are short but at 6ft 3 I was struggling. I really did come away with the feeling that the car was all about form and no function.

I can confirm that even a lowly S4 is significantly faster than an AMV8 Vantage around an ex F1 circuit, Zolder to be exact!!Thorny wrote:I can confirm that the Rs is significantly faster than the AM when you hit 5/6k revs, great look on my mate's face when my estate car pulled away on the autoroute - also carrying most of his luggage!
Beaten by a family estate car, what shame, lol

My boss has an AMV8, decatted and it's too... um how can it put it tactfully?
I'd love to have the V12 Vantage RS:
375bhp per tonne, 600bhp at 6,250rpm and 510lb/ft of torque at 5,000rpm.
0-62mph in 4.0 seconds, 0-100mph in 8.5 seconds and a top speed of 200mph

What map DVD do you have in your sat nav?Thorny wrote:Also - slightly off topic but my TMC worked in France but doesn't in the uk - wierd!
UK TMC won't work unless you have a 2007, 2007_1 or 2008 map DVD.
