Service results, Please help....

Post by marks » Fri Jun 27, 2008 10:52 pm

Hi all,

As a result of my inspection a new MAF has been ordered; but more of a concern to myself is that on the receipt it says that "Bank 1 turbo leaking oil". Is this something to cause me sleepless nights or is it something that is an easy(read, cheap...) fix meaning I can concentrate on other things to cause me a sleepness night

Thanks as always

Mark

Thnaks H8Cak.

Clutching at straws.....

Could it not be the pipes...
Could it not be the rocker cover gasket?

Don't make me go down the K04 route.... I am happy with 265

mmmmmm well it is quite common to get oil in the pipes, and when you take the intercooler pipes off a fair bit can be sitting there, over time it can sit in the bottom, people pull the pipe off and it can look quite bad....they say the turbo is blown.... you can get a bit on that side of the seals, it not a big problem, clean it and see.

does it smoke really bad?

do the K03's make a really bad noise, like a grinding or a real scream? I don't mean a normal turbo whistle.

Darren,

There is no smoke from the car, the turbo's don't make any noise over and above the whistle that appears to be standard.

At my last MOT (September) the technician said there was some oil leaking from somewhere but he didn't know where, I guess this is the source. The fact that it hasn't drunk oil in the last year and doesn't appear to be behaving too erractically, I guess is a saving grace.

What do you guys think I should do?

check for a leak,..... well I don't think you have one as its not using any oil you say? you can pop the front headlamps out and give the top cooler pipes a clean out if you want.... s4 does normally burn a little oil.... little puff on some startups..... you may have a little weep somewhere, find it..... if not just drive the car and enjoy.... like you said, no oil in the last year! a side note, when did you last have a boost leak test done? and a vag-com check. these things are important.

Nice work Darren

Vag-com was done at the service yesterday, and they said the only fault was with the maf (even though I thought they rarely showed up on the there...)

I have not had a boost leak check done for about 12 months as I have struggled to find someone local to do it without being charged a fools ransom.
