996tt brake upgrade

Post by ur-s4 » Tue Jun 17, 2008 5:53 pm

Hello

I did my 996tt brake upgrade at the front last week and the brakes are really good compared to the small reds that were corroded. I also changed the brake lines to goodridge all around.

I also have the 996tt rear calipers and would like to install them as well. It seems that the pad is too big or the disc is too small. Is there bigger disc that can be fitted or should i grind the pads a little?
Has anyone done that before and could give some information.

Thanks

IIRC the rear caliper is difficult to sort. Give the S2 forum a search.

Did u get the brake Calipers AND Discs off a 996 TT? Where did the disks come from if you did not? What items do I need to buy to do what you did?

I would have done the upgrade with both calipers and discs from 996tt BUT when I tried to fit my winter tires (not stock ones) there was only ~1mm clearance so I had to go for the smaller setup. That will say 996tt calipers and 965.351.045/046 porsche discs (322x32), that givs a lot more room between calipers and wheels. Both setups need custom carriers. In the same time I changed all my brake lines to goodridge and used ds2500 pads. Now the braking awesome but the rear ones are stil jamming a little so I will do the upgrade there also. I don't use any shim plates behind the pads and they don't squeel or judder. I did my the carriers by my self but if your'e not able to do them then you should ask corey at quattronics, he has done a lot of these upgrades.
