Movit Brakes and Warning light
I'm running movit brakes and i have replaced the front discs as they were shot. I also replaced the pads, since then the disc brake warning light bleeps and stay on everytime I start the engine.
Is this down to the sensors? How can I switch it off?

RE: Movit Brakes and Warning light
Or short out the sensor connection, as the wires expect a short circuit through the pad - it goes open circuit once the pad needs changed.
Where did you get new discs Simon? I need some for my 380mm 4 pot movit setup.

Yep, same here. my discs haven't been the same since i left them sitting wet by accident! oops! How much do discs for the Movit set up cost, and where do you get them?
Cheers!
Cheers!
RE: Movit Brakes and Warning light
You can get discs through Kim Collins at QST but sit down before you call him!
Depending on disc size, you could order them through a Porsche specialist.

RE: Movit Brakes and Warning light
Cheers Silversea. I actually bought Porsche Pads (from Euro Car Parts) the last time as the the 4 pot Movits are rebadged Brembos from several of the faster 993/996 911 models (993 Turbo (Big-Reds)?). I did wonder about getting Porsche discs but I didn't know the details.
I'm assuming that you would swap the rotor over onto the Movit bell - if thats the correct name for the centre section that the road bolts go through? If anyone out there has details of this I would be most grateful for them!!
My discs are 380mm x 32mm. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Re: RE: Movit Brakes and Warning light
This has been a pain for me for years... I'm not sure the above works on a B5, I tried it once and it didn't work. If anyone has managed to get it to work, then please say so.Stigter wrote:Code out the warning using vag com (VCDS).

As far as shorting the circuit is concerned, I think a straight short doesn't work either. I'm down to thinking it needs a certain resistance, but have yet to spend the time to figure it out. Has anyone been succesful with this method?

i guess your mov'it kit is:
- 996 turbo calipers (pads numb: 996 351 949 12)
- 993 GT2 rotors
The "big red" are 993 biturbo calipers.
you can buy the rotors at Porsche dealer, but they will have to check the correct code, they don't sell these rotors every day!
I think the price is 500 + VAT each
you can swap the rotors rings on the hat/bell, if the bell is in good condition, perhaps you will need to change the bolts.

Just noticed Phil's post - the short circuit worked for me. When I bought the car the warning was on, due to the Movits not having the sensor. The last owner just lived with it. I simply chopped off the connector at the front caliper and stripped back the two wires and then twisted them together and wrapped around some insulation tape. Slightly cowboyish but it did the trick.

I've searched, but only Porsche and Mov'it are selling 380x32. Brembo sell no more this size, but 380x34
I can get some complete rotors 380x34 from Brembo (RS6 upgrade), i will check if we can use them (no problem for calipers, but for the offset?)... i will check that this week.

No Problem Phil.
Durit - be great if you come up with a decent alternative to the Movit 380x32 discs. Yes Offset will be the decider as to what can fit.
I need to find an alternative that does not cost £500 per disc. I just can't bring myself to spend £1000 on a pair of front discs!

The problem is that only few cars use 380 rotors....
The complete rotors cost for Brembo 34x380 is 1700 euros...
i can get the mov'it rotor rings perhaps for les money
