Are Replica Audi Wheels any good? experiences wanted

Post by Tom-S4 » Wed May 28, 2008 11:38 pm

Evening all,

Just found out that my recently bought B5 S4 has two buckled rear wheels on it. Whilst I imagine I will likely buy another Avus 17 from eBay or even in the classifieds here (please PM me if you have one for sale!) I have been toying with the idea of changing the wheels altogether.

I have seen many wheel/tyre deals for replica Audi style wheels going for £315-£600. Whilst I am aware i should be careful with any bundled set of tyres, I am more interested in the quality of such replica wheels, as they seem quite cheap for what i'd expect to be complicated manufacturing involved.

Here are two such example sites I've come across in my search:

Rochford Tyres in Essex - RS4 B7 replicas
Chase Tyres in Staffordshire - RS4 B7 replicas

With Audi prices probably nearer £2k for a replacement set of official alloys, i'm imagining quite a few members might be running replicas of the B5 RS4 or B7 RS4 wheels on their B5 cars.

I wondered if you guys could let me know if they have been any good and where you got them from?

I have RS4 B5 reps on my S4 - put on by the previous owner so I don't know where they came from. They have been excellent - not the cheap dross. Done a number of trackdays also.

I put RS4 b5 reps in black on my old s4 from Rochford tyres with Toyo tyres. Had no problem with wheels or Rochford tyres.

I had rs6 reps on my b5 s4, They were good ones from italy , well that's what i thought , After 4 months they all started to crack. When i got them off the car i found every spoke on every wheel was cracked !!!!! So they went in the bin as the supplier didn't want to know as i could not find my receipt .

I had 18" RS6 and later 18" B7 RS4 reps from Rochford Tyres on my last A6, couldn't fault them or the dealer. The Toyo tyres were brilliant even if they only lasted a year.
