What BHP is my car please ??

Post by CO11K9 » Thu Jan 24, 2008 8:57 am

Hello

Can somebody confirm what I think already,

I have an X reg 2001 A6 QUATTRO 4.2 V8, I believe it is the 326bhp model, am I right, and how do I check this?

Also when did the 340bhp models come out?

Cheers Kevin

2001 S6 with 5 valves per cylinder has 340PS, 326 was only on the S6 plus which was a C4 S6.

Thanks for the reply,

I popped down to QST in Haywards Heath, Sussex, this morning, to ,say hello,

And apparently my car is 300bhp and 300 ft lbs,

Cheers Kevin :kissmyrings:

A bit of modifying needed me thinks to get to around the 350bhp mark

Check the sticker on the first page in the service book that's in your car, you should see the engine and gearbox codes, VIN (chassis number) and the engine power listed in kilowatts, it should be 250kW for your car, which is 340PS.

For mods, I have done a few of those, with full exhaust (race cats or none)+remap, you should get around 365-370 BHP.

HTH,

Mihnea

Thats exactly what the guys at QST did and it was printed 220 kw, which equates to 300bhp.
Remember I have an A6 not an S6 :( BUT........... I still like it

Mihnea,
If my car is 300bhp, does all that mean that when it came out the factory they tuned it to 300bhp, and the later models were mapped to a higher output.IE 326 AND 340BHP,

Do we still all have the same basic engine?

If so what would a K+N filter, better flowing exhaust, 99 ron petrol(v power) and a full custom remap get me power wise ?
Thankyou for your input :notworthy:

Ahhh, sorry, I thought you had an S6, yes, the A6 does indeed have 300 PS.

The engine is not the same as the S6 however, the cams are different, and a few other bits and pieces too, so I doubt you could get much more than 330 BHP out of your car with the aforementioned mods...
