New Owner - couple of q's

Post by justinthyme » Mon Sep 17, 2007 5:30 am

Have had the new car for about a week now. Have a couple of questions for all of the experts out there

1) Is there any purpose to the layer of film between the rear wheel arches and the rear doors? Mine have discoloured from the sun and I would prefer to remove them. Someone suggested that they are factory fitted?????

2) Are there any aftermarket exhaust systems that have the same matt black tips as what i have on the car right now?

thanks in advance.

Hi , the plastic film is to prevent stone chips , they are only a few quid and easy to remove and refit .
As for the exhaust most people ( & me) go for a milltek , you could give them a call and see if they can do the trims in black as they are silver as standard. grizz

Welcome justinthyme,

I emailed Milltek back in June about their exhausts being supplied with matt black tips and at that time they didn't offer them as an option.

Over on the RS4 (B7) forum there was talk of them being available for this model in black, in a month or so. Let's hope that the tail sections are the same size etc... on both the RS4 & '6.

thanks for the responses. milltek seems the way to go, but i don't believe there is a stockist in the middle east. i think we are pretty much limited to abt and mtm out here. is the plastic film oem or would i be able to get it elsewhere?

don't lose the clear film or you will be re-spraying that piece of trim. get a dealer to replace, as they are tricky to get right...

Is the clear protective film then an OEM fitment ? I thought it was an aftermarket feature on my car ?
