Tool ate to get a new RS4?

Post by drcarrera » Wed Aug 01, 2007 1:08 pm

First post!

We've decided to change both the wife and my cars, and I'd narrowed one of the options down to an RS4 Avant, and now it seems they've stopped making them!

Having read through posts here it seems there are a very few left in the dealer network, but realistically is my only chance of getting one now the second hand route? I don't mind too much as long as I can get a decent spec and "good as new" condition, but will I struggle to find a nearly new car as well as they'll now be more sought after?
Only problem could be the buckets; as someone with a back injury I think the Recaros would be more suitable but it seems I may struggle even more to find a car with these.

Any advise on buying (from stealers) much appreciated ... 8)

Hitchin Audi had a showroom daytona grey Avant with Recaros in stock around four weeks ago - you may wish to give them a call. Gareth King is the guy I've dealt with there.

Hi and welcome :)

At the moment there are very few new, unregistered RS4's left in the UK-about 40 or so saloons for example-and within that about 15-20% have the Recaro's as opposed to the Buckets.

We have just managed to source two such cars in the last week/10 days as there is strong interest in RS4's right now.

If you have had back problems before there is a fair chance you wouldn't get on with the bucket seats (nice as they are) but you should maybe have a look at both options before deciding.

The situation with Avants is fairly similar to the saloon but if you have an open mind on colour/spec it might be possible to get a new car.

hope that helps,
Gareth

I would concur with Gareth about trying the seats, I have had some problems with my back over the past few years and actually find the buckets very good. I previously had an S4 with the Recaros and would pick the buckets every time.

I would seriously consider an extended test drive with both to see what suits you.

Cheers for the replies, guys.

I'll "make myself known" to my local dealer and see if I can try some for size.
They should be keen to help (although may be not once they find out I want to do swapsies with my 911 ) :?

Audi Swindon have a brand new Red RS4 Avant in the showroom. Bucket seats, sat nav, not sure on the remaining spec. It did not have that high a spec I think, but most bits can be retrofitted.

Your bad backs are probably from your wallets. Try carrying it on alternate sides. ;-)

Defo try the seats...

No one has ever been upset with Recaro's some have not liked the buckets... many however do.. I am very happy not to have buckets

Having looked at a brand new RS4 Avant in my local dealer's yesterday (£58K  ) I think I'll have to go for the Recaros, if only because there's too little rear leg room with the buckets (we have to regularly transport two adults in the rear) .
