Just tested an S5

Post by mip » Sat Jul 14, 2007 5:51 pm

Hi,

I tested an S5 earlier today. Looks very nice in the metal (Black with Black leather)

Great build quality and interior, all the toys including the keyless ignition and sat nav, bang and olafson speakers (which sound great btw) etc...

Seats were very comfortable and supportive with all the usual adjustments.

It has a neat electronic parking brake that you just lift a little "flap" like button to engage. To remove you just drive off and it disengages, nice...

Traffic was quite heavy so I didn't get to really stretch its legs, but.

Speed sensitive steering (very light at low speed) quite direct at medium speeds. Engine sounds lovely nice V8 rumble and pulls well in all gears even at low revs.

Suspension is firm but not harsh, certainly controls body roll well and feels planted.

All in all a pleasant experience...

Can't comment any more on the overall handling due to the traffic....

Cheers

MIP

Hi, I had a go in one today also. Very dark blue with red leather. Sound horrid but really worked with the aluminium trim.

Very nice car, the ride was superb, even on quite rough surfaces. Seemed to handle pretty well but the roads were fairly straight. Good noise from the V8 but it did not feel very quick but I think I am spoilt a bit!! I then had a drive in a new RS4 afterwards and that was completely different. Much quicker and more responsive, but then it is £12k more expensive!!
B5 RS4 - RS6 Calipers/B7 RS4 Discs, H&R ARB's, MRC Custom Remap, RS246 Sticker!! SOLD!!
