Reverse Gear
Reverse Gear
Got my car about an hour ago, put it in the garage already cause it's started to rain heavily.
The reverse gear engage seems a bit odd. In my old A3 everytime you pressed the gear stick down and North West it bleeped and reverse was engaged.
In the RS4 I've found it doesn't always bleep and sometimes when I think I've put it in reverse it's not actually in reverse.
What's the score?

RE: Reverse Gear
How odd, I've never had an Audi which has beeped when you put it in reverse.

I thought my 2001 was too old, but my bros new A3 or current TT doesn't either .....
As for the reverse not properly selecting, maybe loose the clutch out in neutral and try again rather than trying to force it....

RE: Reverse Gear
Sorry, to make it clear. My previous A3 had parking sensors, as does the RS4.
RE: Reverse Gear
Ah OK, does the parking sensor button on the dash show a green light when you put it in reverse?

Start Engine

Put it in reverse

Put it in 1st gear
Put it in reverse

In my A3 it would be:
Start Engine
Car in neutral
Put it in reverse

Put it in reverse
= beep
Start Engine

Mine beeps
RE: Reverse Gear
The RS4 saloon has sensors for the front as well as the rear. Selecting reverse turns them on (beep) and they will stay on when you move into first, back into reverse, back into first, etc. until you reach 15mph in first. You only get the initial beep when they turn on (selecting reverse or pressing the switch).
RE: Reverse Gear
I've just tested mine (while stationary)
Start Engine
Car in neutral
Put it in reverse
= beep
Put it in 1st gear
Put it in reverse
= no beep
But if
Start Engine
Car in neutral
Put it in reverse
= beep
Put it in 1st gear
Press the Parking sensor button to turn off the sensors
Put it in reverse
= beep
Once the sensors are on (light showing on button) it won't beep again.
