Remap issues + Removing the speed limiter

Post by Enne&Effe » Sat Apr 21, 2007 2:22 pm

Hi all
I've just remapped my RS4 (made by a local engineer) and I have some troubles:
- at WOT everything is fine :D
- at 3/4 throttle, around 3500-4000 rpm the ECU goes in recovery, cutting the boost to 0,3 bar (normally is 1,3 bar). Releasing the throttle and pressing it again, the boost is full.

What is happening?
I've changed the N75, the lambda sonds, the boost pressure sensor, the MAF.....nothing changed.....

Any ideas?

Another thing: the engineer says that it is not possible to remove the speed limiter only remapping the ECU. The car needs an external device....is it correct?

Thanks in advance for your support

Enne & Effe from Italy

I'd suggest you actually see a real tuner, not some "engineer" who doesn't know cr@p and talks rubbish.

The top speed limiter is INSIDE the ECU and your 3/4 throttle issue sounds about right for poor tuning IMHO.

Maybe you know one in Italy Mihnea that you could recommend, now that would be helpful.

No, honestly I don't know of a single decent tuner for an RS4 in italy, and I'm not trying to make myself look good. There are plenty of good Audi tuners, just unfortunately none that I've ever heard of in Italy so far....

Just my 0.02,

Just talked with the mechanic: they put the original map but the problem remains exactly the same.

He is working on:
- air leaks
- ignition issues

Any other idea? Has someone experienced the same problem?

Thanks a lot for your help

Had similar thing to you (see the hesitation at around 3k-4k rpm thread)

Get the car pressure tested and check for any possible boost leaks.

It could be the diverter dump valves that have gone as I had mine replaced.

What fault codes does VAG COM software give?

Mine went into limp mode (flashing engine management light for 10 seconds) and then all came good again and would perform fine for a certain period.

Have you checked your plugs & verified your EGT sensors are OK?

Just talked with my mechanic and every problem seems to be solved. The issues were:
- small air leak in a dump valve hose
- wrong N75 valve (!!!): it has recently been replaced but with a wrong one (suppplied by local Audi dealer basing on chassis number)....no words....
- too warm spark plugs (they were original ones) -> sometimes the car knocked

Now it seems fine: on Saturday I will go there to finally test it!!!
