New S3

Post by spiker » Wed Mar 21, 2007 12:14 am

Hi all

First post on here as I am picking up my 3rd S3 on Thursday

A 46K 225 51 plate with full Audi history

Suggestions hear guys on things to do first

Cambelt and water pump ? - should I wait ?
Remapping - had an AMD remap on my first and I am convinced thats what put it into an early grave

As far as I can see the brake fluid and haldex has been done per the service book and I cannot see any issues with the car

Couple of dinks to the alloys - need to get those sorted - any suggestions around the Bristol area for fixing those ?

Other than that - anyone have any suggestions for my first couple of weeks regarding things to check

Thanks

Get the cambelt/water pump done - approx 370 from APS, its worth doing considering your car is over 5 years old about now

Welcome

I've got the APR chip, but I think given the choice again, I would go REVO! Have also a replacement Jetex panel filter, helps it breathe better whilst looking stock, this was £40 from Halfords.

Spec

Standard unmessed with 225 full Audi history
light leather interior - I am colourblind so god knows what shade it is
Standard wheels
Bose / heated seats are the only extra options
last owner had it for 3 years - 3 total owners

Thankfully no 'please steal me' wing mirrors

£12000 he wanted I paid £10800

For those of you interested I bought a 52 plate 50K from Audi for £13750 in February and returned it after 1 week

Initially they said that there was nothing wrong with it !

After further investigation ( lol - we writing to Audi customer care) - they discovered that they needed to change the master flywheel / clutch / front shocks / bushes / 2 motors in the chair / os passenger door trim / wiper motor / rear boot struts etc etc

Then.....they said my car was now available to be collected

My response as I am sure you would guess was no thanks and after waiting a month received a refund.

It was a particularly bad car but what was interesting was that even after a months checking they could not find me a replacement vehicle that they considered ok - they openly admitted that many of the S3's have been enjoyed and the vast majority they sell are not any good

This was the dealer talking - the same dealer that only a month before had been assuring me that paying a premium guaranteed me a better quality car as they only accepted good cars from the public second hand.

So I have a similar car for 3000 less but theres one thing left thats bugging me and I am still considering my options

When I went through all the paperwork for the vehicle bought from Audi I discovered an Audi checklist sheet - the ones they do when the car first comes into the workshop

It was signed and dated by 2 audi employees in July 2005

The recorded mileage in July 2005 was 60083

So what you might say ? - well the vehicle I bought in Feb 2007 had only done 54000

The paperwork tallies the VIN numbers - something fishy here I think - should I pursue this ? - I still have the log book and I am still the legal owner of the old vehicle bought by Audi

I havent returned their paperwork as I am still waiting for the refund cheque to clear

interesting.....

I just sold my S3, owned it from new, June 02, 55k miles, every extra bar sat nav, plus porsche brakes etc for just arund 12k

Are you aware that if you call 0870 010 5671, you can get a cars service history from Audi - be interesting to see what their computer says the mileage was put in as when the car was serviced

Thats fishy with a capital 'F'!

When you complain, make sure you give them copies and not the originals incase they go missing! wink wink

The mileage on the Audi service documents for some reason is always expressed in KM.
I noticed that some time ago, but realised what the difference was.

put them on the spot... interesting to hear thier explanation as to why it would "appear" that the car has possibly been clocked.

also thanks for the phone number... I'll to be phoning next week to find out the history of our RS4, We have the service log BUT that doesnt tell you anything thats been done between services so I am in the process of tracking down all the previous servicing dealerships and asking for a copy of the work carried out. You wont believe the red tape dealers throw up asking for proof that we are the owners and not another dealer.

I suggest you ask why the mileage dooesnt tally with the history service. Someone has some explaining to do!!
