Service checks

Post by bobjebb » Tue Mar 20, 2007 10:26 am

Car is due to go in when dealer has a Q7 for me to take away for the day.

Not used them before, 10/10 so far for general bending over, phone calls returned etc, and the service manager even seemed to know a bit about DRC.

Just wondered if there was anything else I should refer too as a way of letting them believe I'm not a mug. It's a second service, 16.5k miles.

EG: Any specific Oil I should ask them to use?
Don't think plugs need changing, but can anyone confirm?
Gearbox oil?

etc

Thanks chaps.

I think plugs are scheduled for 20K so it may be worth getting them done?
Not sure about the transmittion oil.

Gearbox oil is longlife oil, and Audi official line is that it should never need replacing. However, I had mine changed on the last service (under warranty though as had a rear diff seal leak). As RS6 gearbox are known to be a weak link, personally and from what others have said, I would probably get it done at about 50k miles or earlier.

A quickie - once the car shows 'SERVICE!' would people recommend not driving it?! Mine is due as mentioned but quite ancy a couple of hundred mile round trip tomorrow.

As long as the oil level is ok and you dont track it, I reckon you could do a few thousand miles! My service is due in 1k miles, but I shall have this done before then as I would never forgive myself it anything went wrong.
