Hi to all,
I,m new on here and dont get chance to post much but thought i,d share this with you,
After reading the woes of several other members on here and their friends after having had their cars stolen i was wondering if any one has any experience of bespoke vehicle tracking systems, that will do exactly what it says on the tin, before you think i,m trying to plug some one / thing i,m not its far too complex for me to understand but i have looked into it recently as i,m paranoid about leaving the vehicle some where it may be at risk of being stolen, and after reading a previous thread i,m now thinking arriving home would be as good a place as any to deprive me of my pride and joy.
The top and bottom of what i,m thinking about is pretty hefty in terms of cost but i too have had a vehicle stolen, an expedition prepared Defender 110, never to be seen again..... A huge loss !!
I was recently working for a bloke who had all his vehicles fitted with such devices and after one of his vehicles was stolen it dissapeared off the face of the earth, needless to say it was an embarrasment to the provider and costly in terms of loosing a Lambo, I,ll cut a very long story by adding some 3 months later the vehicle registered itself on the server as being in the UAE somewhere sat at the dockside and said owner supplied the keys to the vehicle and went about retrieving it, needless to say there was a huge shift in confidence with the guy who thought he had lost it only to find it had been bundled into a container and shipped off to foreign fields, the guy now has his lap top configured to be picked up in the same manner should that get stolen, oh and he had a free service as he sat at home watching his range rover hit tripple figures when it went in for a service, apparently road tested ?????
There are several variations and even pay as you view versions, but if you have it how does it compare to a tracker and is it reliable ?
Tracker or Similar
RE: Tracker or Similar
People are un-likely to reply to this as it gives thieving bastards out there an insight into what we have fitted.

Cheers,
never thought of that, to be honest i dont think all that many people do, not if they are gonna stick mobile ads in the windows advertising which device is fitted,
I have booked my car in any way to have an un named system fitted which in theory looks pretty good, apart from the logging and other features that are pretty top drawer it has several other features that are pretty bizzare, several outputs can be configured to activate the air bags, clamp off the fuel line "slowly" bringing the car to a gradual stop, cutting off the power dead to do the obvious, some of this i know is pretty dangerous to say the least and no doubt illegal but then again stealing anothers possesions has its pitfalls,
some or most of the settings will be left un attached as i,m not wanting to render myself in jail at the expense of a car, but even without these fitted i can still detect the exact location any where on earth providing the maps are available for reference, and set up all manner of alarms and triggers to report to my phone home PC and lap top,
Here,s hoping it does what it does when its supposed to do it, otherwise its next to useless,
