MP3 compression for SD card use

Post by Guyt » Thu Dec 07, 2006 1:08 pm

I am building up a list of albums to burn onto my SD card for use in the car. The question is, what bit rate to use. Has anyone got experience of the loss of quality in a Bose system when you tune the bit rate down. I am currently saving at 192 KB which makes the ave song in MP3 format about 3MB.

Any suggestions welcome

cheers

I use 192kbps and 4GB SD cards. With the RNS-E limit of 512 files + folders per SD card, I always reach that limit before I fill the 4GB card so I've never bothered to use a lower bit rate.

I find that 128 is adequate for in-car use, but demand much better in the house, where I use flac.
