Oh dear, the new S6 Avant got a right roasting from Clarkson:

I hope the new RS6 Avant gets a better review!

Had a ride in that the other day. I have to say it felt barge like, and not nearly as quick as my RS4 in the acceleration stakes (no turbo thrust) but my god it is quick. It just rides a wave of torque all the way to ludicrous speed. We hit 140 before I knew what was going on. And the engine does sound lovely - just too quiet.

It's a cruiser plain and simple, and they had to leave a lot of room for improvement for the RS really. Some of the extra details, like the led driving lights, the downlighting of the front door arm-rests etc... really made the car feel special. Mind you the spec of the one I was on was apparently about 70k, and that was without the B&O sound system, the rear parking camera etc...

The adaptive cruise control was cool if very scary. The guy driving took a few attempts before he fully trusted it to brake - it leaves it late! A great motorway mile muncer I'd say, didn't have a chance to take it on country roads but I'd doubt it would be a strong point of the car.

Oh and a definite licence loser!
