yellow? engine warning light?

Post by Shahel » Mon Oct 02, 2006 3:51 pm

its been coming and going the last few days. Vagcom (got someone to do it) said something about "Coolent System" and to check "DTC memory" now the light is just on, my engine temp just stays in the blue and never goes up. What could be the fault and is it gonna cost alot? my washer pump is also gone and only had the car less then 2 months :(

Sounds like it has lost water, but it would throw up a DIS Low Coolant aswell.......... if it is staying in the blue, your thermostat is stuck open, mine goes straight to the middle, and never moves.........

Sould just be the coolant temp sensor. probably worth changing it to see if it makes a difference - only cost about £8 and easy to locate and change out. If it's never been changed then the original temp sensors were more temperamental than the ones that replaced them which had better tolerances built in.

Search for the after run mod as there will be a part number to help you order this sensor.
But if you follow the "after run mod" route you will get a better cooling onto the turbos when you turn the car off as the new sensor will trigger your secondary water pump at lower temp when you turn off the car.

This will Fix the car and get you an up grade we hope!
