S4 service at APS Automotive Performance Services

Post by GeoffC » Tue Aug 08, 2006 1:26 pm

Just took my newly acquired 25,000 mile W reg S4 Avant down to the guys at APS to be checked over - oh and remapped, of course.

In the past, I've had an RS2 and an S3 looked after by AMD, but in the last year or so, everyone I knew there seems to have left! But now I've found out where they've gone!! (Hi Ed & Nathan!)

Anyway, it was so good to go back to dealing with a garage who a) know what they're doing, and b) actually care about it as well. The time they spent checking everything out was as if the car was their own, they even managed to get hold of a full set of discs & pads for the car without being given any warning, and at £40/hr labour, they're really good value. When you think about the labour content of some of the chunkier engine conversions, it's a lot more affordable than others in the area!!

As for the remap, just what I expected, in gear acceleration more like my old RS2, predictable, smooth and FAST! And no worse fuel economy.

So thanks again guys, good to be dealing with you again, see you for the next service & whatever else you can find for me!

From Manchester to....

Post by GeoffC » Tue Aug 08, 2006 4:22 pm

Took me exactly 2 hours door to door, from Gatley - use the M6 toll road, and go during school holidays. It's worth the trip, believe me!

If you want someone with a brain in Manchester, use Volksmaster in Oldham on 0161 678 9610. They used to run an S4.

Hmm. IMO Ed bailed AmD out of their "bad customer service" period, so his leaving is one less reason to go there.
Anyway, I've already decided which independent gets my future business.

H&R coilovers, AWE DTS, Porsche front brakes, Short-shifter, 18" RS4 replicas

Yes, Ed worked hard on that and Nathan did the brakes and suspension on my car, they're both good guys.
