Track Insurance

Post by spikey » Tue Jun 27, 2006 1:39 pm

Sorry if this is the wrong thread to post in - have posted in the B6 S4 thread but had no replies :(

Have a track day booked in July at Snetterdon - insurance is currently with Churchill (need to ring to see if they will cover whilst on track)

If Churchill dont cover whilst on track anyone know of some good insurers that do one off track day cover ? and the rough cost.

Car is 2003 B6 s4 Avant

thanks

I'm in the same boat. I have had quotes from MORIS
http://www.moris.co.uk/

Also waiting for qoutes from trackdays.com through CIG http://www.trackdays.co.uk/insurance.htm.
and http://www.sisa.co.uk/per/moto/quick3.htm.

Some members will probably reply saying that because a trackday is not racing or time trialling then the road insurance shoudl cover it. I know my insurers have said "no" despite explanations and I gueess Churchilll will be the same.

Greenlight offer trackday cover if you already have acar insurance policy with them.

Cost will vary depending on your car and the level of cover you want. For £ 17500 of cover the best premium I've had so far is £ 190 with an excess of £ 2500. The cover is normally on a no quibble basis - you just need a marshall/organiser to certify that you were a complete and utter pr*t and pranged your pride and joy into the armco or whatever!

Hope that helps.

Thanks, since posting i did find MORIS via google - they quoted my £240 with £2400 excess, about half what i pay for annual insurance for the car !!!!

This is turning out to be an expensive day what with around £150 for petrol :(

Will try the other two you posted.

I also contacted Snetterton who pointed me in the direction of Competition Car Insurance who can be contacted on 0115 941 5255.

Hi Spike,

If I remember correctly I used CCI last year and the premium was about £ 180 for £20k cover with a £2500 xs. It may be half of your normal road insurance but I suppose the insurers assess the risks to be that much higher. It is no quibble too.
