RS6 will these wheesl fit ??

Post by kipper » Sun May 07, 2006 9:49 pm

Hi everyone,

Im a new RS6 owner ( 2 days so far and still smiling)

Im thinking on putting some new wheels on my RS6,the wheels i have been offered are 275 / 40 offset is 41, stud diameter is 112, ratio is 40. The wheels are off a Bentley GT, will they fit on my Audi ? I dont want to look like carlos fandango wide wheels ! but they are very nice wheels.

Any help would be appreciated, im no technical car buff so keep it simple please :)

cheers

Ged

Welcome to the forum Ged.

The standard fit OEM wheels are 8.5J 18" ET30 with 5x112 stud pattern. Optional 19" wheels are 9J 19" ET35 (7.5J18 ET20 was another option).

275/40 tyres are very wide, and I'm guessing you need a 9" wheel to accommodate those. What are the size of these wheels?

From the above, I suspect that offset ET41 may not be enough to clear those big brakes - I think you need a minimum of ET35.

Watch that suspension... I have had 255/35/19's rub the suspension, as tyre batching tollerances are very poor, you can see where it rubs from an old photo of mine below:

Hi Guys,

i thought i would log in to see if i had a any reply to my questions, never expecting that i would get a result !

Many thnks for the feedback, very much apreciated.

I think i will let the wheels go, i dont want to open a can of worms with tyre tollerences etc.....

The wheels are 19" 235 35 at the moment i think , i also think we will just keep them that way for now. I only got the car on Saturday and im already totaly smitten, love it love it love it.......

cheers

Ged,

This is a very active and helpful community. There will always be someone along to help, give advice, or simply point you in the right direction.

I think that's the right decision on the wheels - to be fair, you wont actually know the answer until you offer them up.

In the meantime, enjoy your new toy...!

These Bentley wheels and tires fit on the VW Phaeton - I have a set on mine. I doubt they will fit the RS6. Using 5 mm spacers may help clear the brakes but the suspension bits will interfere, I fear.

Aye, but bear in mind the Bentley is based on the Phaeton

I like to think the opposite. The Phaeton is a Bentley under the shell.

Can you get different centre caps? Looks a bit odd having Bentley badged wheels on a VW (or RS6 for that matter) IMHO.

I put these on 4 months ago. Wish I could find something better but they are holding up fine - just too small.
