Seats!

Hi Y'all

I've driven an RS4 for a total of about an hour now and have to say that the standard seats are very narrow. I'm 6ft 4 and very slim and even for me they hug my hips a little too hard (even without S mode).

this is a question for the current owners and not people who haven't received theirs.

How are you living with the standard seats? I love the look of them and have specced them for mine but not sure I could live with them on longer journeys.

I've exactly the same problem - in fact my right leg dies after about 90 minutes driving!

I find them absolutely spot on. One thought - I assume that you "relaxed" the sides out as far as they go?

Have had the "2 hour gong" quite a few times now, and not felt any discomfort at all.

I thot the seats were comfortable to drive in just an absolute pain (literally) to get in and out of - the edge digs right in to the right hamstring - cannae be good for ya.

I spent about ten minutes getting in and out the display car @ Edinburgh Audi t'other day - all in the name of research for RS246.com

I think that the buckets are seriously flawed and from what I hear, lots of cars are now having the recaros specified instead.

I got my B7 RS4 two weeks ago and find the bucket seats to be excellent, no discomfort at all. I'm 5'11" and 34" waist so probably about average build.
The seats obviously feel tighter than most other sports seats because they do have the big bolsters but they certainly keep you secured with no sliding about on cornering.

For me they are a key feature of the RS4 and the car would be somewhat diluted without them, a bit like washing your feet with your socks on.

The comfort/ support whilst driving is not in question (for me anyway) but how dya live with the bolsters on entry/exit?

Is there a trick to minimising the discomfort or is it just like dating a teenager - the odd niggle here n there but worth it over all?

Got my car yesterday - Once you're in their fine, but getting in is not a dignified exercise. You certainly can't just hop in.

Sorry guys....the seats are there for one reason only, to keep you in place when thrashing the car on a track. This bodes the question, would you pay £55k on a car like this for the track? It is too much of a comprimise in my opinion, a track car should be raw - the RS4 is not. So it is aimed at the geezer who wants a fast family car that can do track days or pottle around town....hence why they give you seating options. In any case, I for one would not want to spend £55k on a car to thrash around a track, if on a budget, you would be better going for an Elise or Lancer Evo (for 4wd fun) and if you have super money then it has to be a proper road/race car such as a ferrari. If it is track only, get a formula ford or similiar....

Formula ford & trailer=£5k. Quicker than a 996 turbo round a track. Mind you you are not meant to tow with an S4 or RS4!

But plenty people do, as QST and the like fit towbars for RS4's
