According to my dealer I should be expecting delivery end of this month. If thats the case, where in the pipeline should my car be now and how easy should it be for the dealer to get his information acurately. I may be wrong, but I've got a feeling it's going to be a much longer wait than I was promised. Everytime I ask the question, the standard answer seems to be "the 'system' seems to be down but it should still be the end of March."
Am I being an unreasonable, impatient customer?
How much should my dealer know?
RE: How much should my dealer know?
I know the dialback system has been down, but I would have thought the supply info system would have been a seperate system...If you are expecting the car at the end of the month, it will be sitting in a port waiting for transport I would have thought....
RE: How much should my dealer know?
Your dealer should be able to track your car, your order will have your name and spec with a COMM number assigned to it. Ask your dealer for this and make a note of it. I dont think you are being unreasonable or impaitent but when your spending over 50k on anything its no small matter.. keep dealing with your salesman and try to keep on good terms with him.. if he fails then try the sales manager of the dealership.
I hope you find out soon.

RE: How much should my dealer know?
Hi DaveyB,
Your dealer has access to the Audi system called Dialog which tells them all about your car and its trip trough the factory, trip on a boat and little trip on a transporter.
Dialog reports each stage of the pre and post production process, every dealership has dialog access. For example I am looking at Dialog at a car due at the end of March, which has just changed from "Final Assembly" to "Production Completed" this means it only has testing then will be shipped to Emden docks, then a little boat trip to one of the UK ports.
If your dealer thinks your car should be here in March, Dialog should have your car at "Production Complete" or "Final Assembly"
Visit your dealer, sit at one of there desks and ask for a print out from Dialog listing your COMM Number and Build week Information.
Listed on the screen will be the following:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CheckPoint8 .............................: Port of entry...........................: sheerness
Arrival at Emden .......................: Vehicle location ......................:
Sailing advised ..........................: V55 print date ........................:
Move to UK Compound ...............: V55 sent to dealer ..................:
Call off date/time .......................: xx/02/06 12:45 Call Of Dealer .......................:
Dist. Centre Departure ................:
Estimated delivery .......................:
called off..................................... Yes
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just and example, Dialog can be a little slow to update, but is a most helpful tool for customers as well as dealer.

RE: How much should my dealer know?
MattC - Very useful, thank you. I think I'll have a wander down to the showroom. There's no reason why he should object to printing this information off for me?
