Warranty....

Post by S4INT » Mon Mar 13, 2006 12:44 pm

I know this has been covered a couple of times before, but I'd like to get some fresh opinions.

I've had a couple of quotes for aftermarket warranties, one from Warranty Direct, and one from RAC Warranty.

The WD one is £870 for the year, covers Main Dealer labour rates and covers wear and tear, but has a maximum claim limit of £5k and a policy (annual) limit of £5k.

The RAC one is £470 for the year, has no claim limits (up to the value of the car) or limit on number of claims, but doesn't cover wear and tear, and only pays £36 /hour towards labour costs!

So it's swings and roundabouts. If something major goes wrong with the car, £5k might not be enough at a main dealer (Turbos, gearbox etc.)

The flip side is the RAC warranty is £400 cheaper at the start, but I will have to pay the extra-over for the labour.

I haven't had a quote for an Audi (Mondial) warranty yet, but is there any other Warranties I should be considering, or do you have any thoughts on the above companies?

Thanks,

Paul.

I bought the Audi/Mondial one - £ 1138 I think and last Feb/Mar had two claims - pair of turbos (bearing failure in one turbo) and second was an Oil coiler (slight lea) - both done without hassle and had loan car whilst mine OTR.

I suppose its the claims experience that woud also help when deciding whether to go for RAC or WD warranty.

That's my 2p.
