Car too "juicy" since remap!!!!

Post by quattrosteph » Mon Mar 06, 2006 11:44 pm

Since i had a remap done on my charriot ( superchip, i know....) i do far less miles per gallon, on average mixt i get 220 miles with a full tank!!!
Saw last week end a lovely RS4 MTM tuned stage 3 and the owner car get more miles from the tank than me!!!!?
Was very happy with the extra torque i had on my car and the power( 404 Bhp not impressive!) but now i realise i did pick the wrong remap......I think i am going to visit an another tuner for sure!

Steph, that's probably about right for the first few tanks after haver a remap - you do tend to use your right foot more for a while. Have you had your MAF checked recently - this is a common problem and not part of any Audi service routine. It might just need cleaning.

Just switched from Optimax to Tesco 99 and gone from 235 miles per tank to 260 ish. Feels good too.

Anywhere between 210-250 per tank is average for me on a stock RS4. average 19.5-21.5mpg. I'm doing fairly short hilly runs of 7-8miles per day though. I've managed on a long run to get 28mpg :D

My previously AMD chipped S4 was much the same.

juicy RS4

Post by quattrosteph » Tue Mar 07, 2006 9:08 pm

It seems to me some stage 3 tuned RS a quite good on juice!! My concern is that my car is nearly more juicy than my previous S4 4.2 and i used to drive it in a....sporty way
I have the felling it come from the remap (superchip....), nearly all my previous cars have been tuned by them, i have to admit it was really good with big diesels, but with the RS engine i think it is not the best, it does make the engine running too rich on petrol. :?
Anyway will go tomorrow to MRC in banbury for a check and may be a better remap, i heard some good comments about them, will keep you inform.

Have an MTM stage I showing and the computer shows 21.6 mpg with "spirited" driving. It's my daily ride about 22 miles each way on mixed roads (lanes/single and dual carriageway).

This is only about 1mpg less than my S4 B5 that I had before.

Would it not be worth taking it back to the Superchips people and explaining the issues ? Give them a chance to fix and if they cannot/will not etc. ask for your money back?

MRC will do a super job, no doubt but I'd want value from what I'd spent already.

Just my 2p.

I thought Superchips offered a 14 day no-quibble warranty anyway? They must be owned by Argos!
