Anybody interested?

Post by Jezzer » Sun Feb 05, 2006 12:05 am

Saw this on ebay and wondered if anyone was interested in jumping the queue. Interesting that he wrote the RS4 was now sold out.

One big floor with this, the only way the winner of the auction will be able to get the car is to accept it being registered in this guys name, any change of details will see the order being cancelled and return to the sales office to be offered to the waiting list.

He He, i predict the loss of 50k when the buyer hands his cash to the seller who registers it in his name, completes the transaction with the dealer and promises to transfer it to the new owner but does a runner instead.

I agree, that is a strange one.

People are bidding though.

What do people feel is the supply vs demand status? Are they all sold out for the next year and will cars trade over list for the first 6-12 months ?

Methinks the fact that it has only reached £255 with 1 day to go answers your question.

Back in Dec 2004, when the new Boxster (987) was launched they were fetching 3K on ebay.

Granted this guy will have problems passing it on as I was explicitly told the car would only be registered in my name, although there is always a way round these things if the price is right.

You may well be right Simon. £ 470 with 4 hours to run.

A 2k loss? Is the deposit non-refundable as I was under the impression that deposits placed on cars were refundable (just that dealers like to make you think they are not?!)

Spot on. I'm pretty sure there is something in law about getting your deposit back..... I'll try to have a look into it and let you know.

Although, the thing to bear in mind is I doubt dealers would give back deposits unless they had to. Not only this, but its a fact that hardly anyone with a deposit down will have driven the car. Suppose they hate it??
