Anyone seen the new EVO mag...

Post by Mik » Thu Dec 08, 2005 9:40 pm

Interesting article in there on UK fuel with Rolling road testing using a new Golf GTI and a new M5 with various popular petrols. The results are very different in terms of power delivery as well as torque/hp and top end......tesco 99 gets pretty good reviews as does BP Ultima and to some extent Optimax, although it doesnt give as much power as the other two......pretty cool test IMHO.

I saw it as I flicked through the other day... Haven't had time to read it fully yet.

Does anyone rate the new subscriber only special covers? I didnt appreciate how good it looks until I left last months on a plane so bought another copy from the local shop - looks much better in subscriber only format.

Didn't realise there was a different cover........... but then I am not the most observent tool in the box :biggrin2:
Have tried the 99 Tescos and felt the car did pull a bit stronger, but used to 98 with Millers so I guess on its own it does not really stand up

That is interesting cos i saw a similar review on telly (can't remember which programme it was though) they used a normal shopping type car, then a higher performance car, and finally a Subaru, and the results where the complete opposite. On the rolling road the normal car had no bhp difference between normal unleaded, BP ultima and Optimax. There was a bit of difference with the higher performance car in favour of the Optimax, but the biggest result was with the turbo'd Subaru. The Optimax produced approx 10bhp more than the BP ultima, and lots more than 95 unleaded.

So i guess you pays your money you takes your pick.
