Blowouts

Post by hamski » Tue Aug 23, 2005 12:07 pm

I've just had my two offside tyres blowout within a week of each other. I'm on 235/35 ZR 19s. Goodyear Eagles. Both have burst on the inside wall. Anyone else experienced similar? Could just be a bad batch I suppose.

Probably not of any help, but I had a blowout in my old S3. Was running standard 17s with Bridgestones. Blewout on the inside wall and was really badly worn there after about 8000 miles even though the tracking/alignment was ok. Turned out they were all more worn on the inside. Blew out at about 85 on the motorway, and yet it only felt like the car had started to tramline in a rut in the road - says a lot for the stability of the car!

Also not sure this is of any help but my old S3 used to wear the inside of its front tyres very rapidly inspite of tracking/balancing and alignment all being spot on. It was always the hardest part to check cos the rest of the tyre always looked fine. Never got so far as a blow out but could easily have done without vigilance.
