NEW AUDI LE MANS QUATTRO RELEASED

Post by jonp » Sat May 14, 2005 2:58 pm

Guys...and Gals...

I can't find any info here regarding last weeks announcement that the stunning Audi Le Mans Quattro is has been given the green light for production. I think it needs its own heading. Its not an RS, but hey - its going to have the Galardo 600 Bhp enging in an alloy/composite monocoque. I think it definately requires a new heading.

News is that its due out end of 2006 and in limited numbers, somewhere between 3000 and 5000 worldwide - that means it will have approx the same number of units as the old RS4 in the UK.

Pricing is above £60k, but we expect it to be about £85.

I have two on order and I am really early in the queue according to Audi UK. I have one spare, if anyone wants to bid for the place.

Yeah, I know it isn't an estate (avant) nor has 4 seats, but hey, its going to be a supercar

I take it you read this in Autocar. In which case, it's not news. I would class it as "made up, likely to turn out at least 20% true".

When are you going to learn to stop talking to car car dealers.

The only way to do it is to go Cold Turkey - the forum members will help you through it, but this is a very bad addiction you are suffering from and for your own sake, please, GIVE IT UP.

Audi UK is just a car dealer, they know nothing about new models apart from gossip.

The new car will not have the 600bhp engine from the Gallardo, which is 500 bhp, incidentally. The car has an aluminium space frame chassis, not an alloy/composite monoque as you state, some exterior panels are made from thermoplastics however.

The car will have the 4.2 litre V8 from the RS4. The only thing limiting its production will be customers, like all expensive Audi's it will depreciate massively. Its insurance will be high compared to Porsche Carreras, at which it is directed.

It has to go off to the hairdressers to have all the interesting features removed and to get the automotive equivqalent of a blonde rinse - extra understeer added. Why, well they want to sell lots of them and it isn't good for sales when they go off the road.

Understand, this is not going to be a 'tough' car, its going to be a Hollywood, sort of gay thug with a wiff of Ronnie Kray about it. The order book from Essex is massive, and ther cup holders double as hoop earing containers for the doll who does her face on the way to work.

The Audi Board are already cleaning up their gold chains and practicing their mincing walks, should go down well in Cheshire and bits of Manchester too.

Still want even one, Jon, I'd flip those order positions on whilst the lovvies still have their hair in curlers, unless you enjoy getting mugged by handbaggers that is.

I'd a talk with a guy from Audi GMBH when I was in nurburg a couple of weekends ago (They were in town for the DTM, and were giving VIPs laps of the nurburgring in a B7 RS4)...and as far as they're concerned its to be one of the most extreme audis in recent history....and competively priced so they can steal market share from the likes of the AMG mercedes, and porsche...

Sorry to rain on your party, but according to Audi UK their is no list for the Le Mans Quattro & until such time as it's officially released their will be no waiting list. Possible sniff that something along the Le Mans lines will make launch around the end of 2006 or perhaps early 2007, but it's only a rumour & as such no waiting list exists.

You may perhaps mean the pre-list which i'm on for both the expected (now confirmed) new S8 & the expected (not yet confirmed) new RS6. This is a totally different list & attracts no deposit, but puts you up front if the car goes into production. Their is also no contract binding as no money changes hands so you have to hope that your local dealer remembers you're eager.

Can't see anyone buying you're sudo place, as they themselves could end up 1st in line by approaching another dealer or by just acting quickly if a launch is announced.

Well it's pretty much stopped raining totally, as Audi announced that the Le Mans is going into production & should be available late 2006 / early 2007.

When i made the post you've replied to, the Le Mans was not a certainty so no firm deposits could genuinley be taken or orders confirmed, however in the last 2 weeks, Audi UK have issued a release sheet to dealers confirming production release dates for upcoming models. This was only issued within the last 2 weeks, so orders can now be taken & fulfilled. I stuck myself on the pre-list a couple of months ago for the new S8 & RS6, but after speaking with my dealer when they showed me the Audi release schedule, i'm also now on the Le-Mans waiting list. Won't know until production starts exactly where i am on the overall UK list, but i'm 2nd at my dealer.

Unfortunatley i did not see one on the list. The Q7, Le Mans & new S8 were on their, as well as a couple of new engine options on the A4 & A6, but nothing exciting.
