RS4 I/C - Horn Placement

Post by moktoya » Wed Dec 15, 2004 7:22 am

Just did the RS4 intercoolers on my car. Had to relocate the horns which now sound very muted to the point that they're hardly noticeable. Anyone has any remedies? Thx

Did you need to fit the RS4 offside link pipe ?
Thanks,
Dave

Not exactly a DIY job. Quite a bit of cutting required, and it took a lot of effort to make the bumper fit. Apparently, using the APR kit, there isn't supposed to be any mounting brackets for the IC as their positions should be secured by the hoses, bumper and shrouds. So, that effectively means there's minimum clearance between the bumper and the IC, and took quite a bit of fiddling with the bumper to make the fitment just right.

Another issue is the RHS a/c pipework that's supposed to route underneath the IC to get through to the front end. Again, a tight fit, and i had to custom make an extended section of the pipe to make it route thru the top of the IC instead of underneath it.

Then there's the horn issue which I'm trying to solve.

Btw, Dave, i used the custom APR hoses and hence did not require a lower pressure pipe from the RS4.
