S8 wheels

Post by ajsl » Fri Aug 20, 2004 2:23 pm

(more on my new wheel musings)

After checking Audiworld it appears that S8 wheels are a better match for the standard S4 Avus rim than the B6 S4 wheels. I hadn't realised the B6 S4 had a slightly different indentation at the end of the spokes, whereas the S8 has exactly the same design as the B5 S4 stock wheel but is 18x8 and also weighs 1lb less.

Anyway, there appears to be mixed information on the Audiworld forums on the fitting of S8 rims...

There appears to be two types of S8 wheels "early" and "late" with the late ones not needing any spacers?

Does anyone here have S8 wheels on their car, or knows anything about the S8 and could comment?

Also is there any disadvantage in running a wheel with spacers?

Any information appreciated.

I'd love to know if those fit a 98 S4 avant... they would be nice & stealth ;)

According to posters at Audiworld they do bolt straight on.. but there's some uncertainty about spacers...

The fact that they're actually lighter than the stock Avus wheels is nice too!

A friend of mine have the wheels which requre spacers. Also note the stock center caps fit, but are a slightly different color.
