Re: Recommend Radar Detector
Hi christian from what ive read and there has been a few discussions on various forums it seems there is not much difference between the top selling 2 i.e the snooper s6 neo and the origin b2 .
so i bought a b2 and my mate bought a snooper s6 neo
the b2 lookes a much neater unit and is slimmer than the snooper but they both work very well on a test we did they both gave plenty of warning of all types of speed cameras .
A good + point for the origin though is that it has a voice that tells you what type of camera you are approching (and only if you are over the speed limit for that road)if you are not over the limit it just bleeps and flashes to let you know there is a camera there! and if its on the other side of the road i.e. it cant get you it just puts up 2 arrows no noise what so ever.
so in my and peters(my mate)s opinion we like the origin b2 better.
although a + point for the snooper is that it has a built in modem and is supplied with a mini gatso detector (radar)
(the radar bit is an extra for the b2) but they booth work so its realy up to you.
oh yes one more thing the b2 has got the wiring for a laser jammer (they are illegal but do work)if you want to fit one and later this year if its not out allready there is a bit you can buy to fit your laptop to the b2 and use it as a sat nav screen !!
hope this helps you

Re: Recommend Radar Detector
I've previously owned a standard Morpheous Geodesy and Snooper S6R Neo.
Currently we have a Road Angel, which is a "company" one that gets passed between cars/drivers, and fitted in my car I have a Road Pilot with Radar and laser blinders.
IMHO if you can justify the extra money the Road Pilot is THE best solution out there, with the Road Angel the best of the rest.
In my experience the S6 Neo was awful.

Re: Recommend Radar Detector
Alan, do you have the RoadPilot installed in the RS6?
I have had the RP for a year now, and it is permanently wired into my RS6. I have the radar head for it, but haven't decided where to mount it yet. I'm concerned about blocking the airflow to the rads by mounting it behind the grille. One thought has been to bolt it behind the offside headlight, and see whether it will work through the silvering on the reflector.
I have the LRC100 garage door opener mounted behind the lower grille immediately under the centre of the number plate - it's next to invisible down there and only obstructs one diamond in the grille.

Re: Recommend Radar Detector
For anyone using a Pocket PC GPS such as Tom Tom Navigator, here's the UK site providing the complete list of cameras to include in your GPS (through the "Point of Interest" feature).
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/uksafetycameras.php
If you'd like to see how this works, I made a few screen shots of its french version here.
It works real nice, imho. Plus it's free and updated on a regular basis.

Re: Recommend Radar Detector
AFAIK the laser detectory bit should go as close to your number plate as you can get it.. apparently it's verticle(ish) so they aim for that.. (correct me if I'm wrong guys..)

Re: Recommend Radar Detector
Exactly - which is why I've put the LRC100 there. However, the radar head is much larger, and more difficult to place.AFAIK the laser detectory bit should go as close to your number plate as you can get it..

Re: Recommend Radar Detector
I believe they point at the number plate because it is the most reflective part of the car ... My LRC is just under the number plate as well.
There is nice chap in the north west with an American police laser gun and for the 30 beer tokens he will test the beast out to make sure it works if/when! the times comes!

Re: Recommend Radar Detector
Peter,
it is being installed today/tomorrow, along with the garage door openers a 'phone kit and a DVD player.
I've had it, like you, for more than a year now and find it brilliant.
I haven't got the radar head because it wouldn't fit on the Porsche (the RP was hardwired into it, too) and also most forces are now moving away from handheld radar to laser anyhow, although I may look into adding it if I can find a suitable mounting spot, if you get yours installed as you say please let me know how it goes!
Not sure where the laser stuff is going to be honest but the guys doing it know their stuff and have <ahem> access to "test" equipment
Eric,
Hi!!
How's the dog?
The system you mention is used here in the UK by one of my van drivers and he swears by it, he prefers it to taking out our Road Angel as it means he has not only the camera warning but his PDA along with him too
