Scotland

Post by lucas123 » Mon Dec 22, 2003 6:03 pm

Had a trip to Scotland from Northampton last week. I was interested to see the economy figures now that i've had my K04 upgrade. Filled up with Optimax & drove quite moderately most of the way, managed to do 330 miles on a full tank which i thought was quite impressive. (my usual average had gone from 290 miles to 265 since the k04 upgrade),On the way home i filled up with BP Ultimate - I drove it quite a lot harder on the way home but still got 360 miles - didn't notice any performance difference either, mind you with over 400 horses squashed into the bonnet i didn't really expect to.

ps. Anyone know what causes the brake peddle to judder & vibrate just as the car is coming to a halt - i know the ABS is ok & the brake pads are fine ? Any thoughts appreciated.

I am running standard brakes at the minute - budget wouldn't quite stretch that far.

I had the tyres changed a while back & the garage said the cv boots needed replacing as they had leaked grease all over the place. Anyway they replaced the cv boots & cleaned as much grease as possible - but said the remaining grease would come off eventually - That was 6 weeks ago!!?

330 on the way up and 360 on the way back makes sense, even if you did drive harder coming back.
After all, it's down hill

Where Did you go in Scotland then? I am from Glasgow but working down near Manchester at the moment ...

I also just got the KO4 treatment on my S4 .. Fantastic ... but I was interested to see you have 'judder' issue ... since it started in my car I have had the disks and pads all round replaced + brake fluid changed ... twice. Both times by different garages ... unforuntaly I did not mention the problem, but still there. Thing is, I still trust the brakes, and I also decided not to upgrade the brakes, it was down to cost and also the fact that I have never had any brake fad or issues with the stock disks and racing pads of different kinds ... (Terrible how I can justify the cost of KO4's but not 'better'?? brakes!) (I had the A4 2.8 quattro before and had brake fad, but the s4 has never been a problem, even on the track)

Also, I do my best to use Optimax ... BP, Ultimate<sp> but, it is 97ron not 98. Very interesting. BP Ultimate down under is 98, but not here in the UK. I have a good friend who works for BP, and he is surprised, but I suppose the general public will never ask that question. Maybe it is just 1ron difference, I am not expert, but I will do my best to find Optimax.

Germany. 98 standerd? and their 'better' option is 100ron fuel!

Went to the Kyles of Bute - some good roads around them parts - but had the wife with me so i was more than sensible all week.

I suppose if we had 100ron available here - we might need a remap to benefit from it - not sure though.

The Brakes are just annoying - did you get a lot of feedback through the brake peddle?

Who did your conversion?

Yes, at times you need to be sensible, I don't think I have had a dry day since the upgrade, now it is ice kinda temps ...

Was done by Scotts Mototune in Dover. They took my car to Germany. How about youself?

Brakes. Only happens when I am slowing down gradually. It is the last few mph that is happens in, and, as far as I can remember it is when I am applying light pressure on the brake ... bit anoying, but I have had never any reason to question then appart from that ... tough wood.

Scotts did mine also - & i have exactly the same symptoms with the brakes, i'm sure it's just coincidence though.

Hello Mate,

Hope things are going ok since the upgrade, have you given any feed back to Scotts?. I keep meaning to. I'm just wondering when the 500+ bhp package will be available at an affordable price!?

500 BHP! Getting crazy! But I like!!
Whats involved to get it there???

Have you had yours on the rolling road yet? I am hoping to get mine on next week at some point ...

Car is going well, there was a slight problem with the boost controller I had fitted where I can turn the boost up and down at the touch of a knob. It has stoped working, but I changed the N75 valve on sunday there and it seems to be working fine again ... touch wood ...

Hey, in your conversion did they change the Y pipe that feeds the air to the system along with the air intake, MAF meter etc? Mine was not upgraded so think about getting that done sometime ...

How's yours running these days then?
