S3 exhaust

Post by chris22 » Mon Dec 15, 2003 5:03 pm

Will it be ok to remove the cat and fit a replacement pipe on the S3? as a good friend has one handy

not sure. I believe the s3 has a before and after lamba probe...

it may throw up errors on the ecu.

IIRC some cat replacement pipes have the necessary lambda sensors - without these sensors, your ecu will definitely complain.
M3 CSL - Silver Grey, a few options.

S3 also has twin cats. side by side one inlet pipe split between the two cats and then joined back into one pipe at the outlet.

I was thinking instead of fitting cat rep pipes why not take the guts out of the cats and refit them. then it will look like the originals for the mot and increase bhp's.
Any views?

i thought about that some time ago, and mentioned it. think it was decided it wasnt worth the bother.

a emissons spot check test at side of road (which can happen) or mot will pick it up.

Yep, the MoT tester doesn't look for a cat IIRC, just tests emissions, and if you don't have a cat then it'll fail.
