After several months of waiting we will be picking up our new puppy next week. She will be about 8 weeks old then.
We have been asked if anyone would be interested in the puppy's mother, who we have met and is absolutely beautiful. She is just coming up to 8 years old and has been a (very successful) showdog who is now ready for a new home where she will get more personal attention. This happens quite often in breeding circles.
So, a bit of a long shot, but has anyone had any experience of getting a puppy and parent and the same time, into a presently dog-free home ?
This does mean that our S3's days are numbered, as the crate won't fit in without the back seat down. Time for an estate car and another thread !

You didn't mention what breed it is? Could be interested myself, as long as it's not a 'Chiwawa'

What breed? Old dogs are fine as long as you are the boss.

Re: Two dogs or one ?
The breed is quite rare - the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever (or toller for short). We have no issue with having the mother apart from the implication of having two dogs immediately instead of just the one. A lot of people have said that they will be company for eachother, and that training the puppy will be much easier, but is it worth the extra aggrovation of having two dogs ?
We collect the puppy on Thursday so we have to make up our minds pretty quick!

If that is all you are worrying about than get both! It really does not make that much of a difference!
