1.8T vs 3.2

Post by Riz_RS4 » Mon Oct 27, 2003 11:57 pm

Another "what are your views" question.

3.2 V6 or 1.8T

Which would you prefer and why?

3.2 V6 develops 250bhp with 320nm
1.8T develops 210/225bhp with 270/280nm

Both have similar performace but the 1.8T block does sound rather dull in my opnion.

3.2 sounds good to me - reliability wise, would the 3.2 be able to handle better power increases?

Yes i think the 3.2 V6 block has good potential..... remember that tuned R32 with B-turbo configuration over 500bhp if i recall correctly... and the sound of a bigger engine is way better than the weezy 1.8T blocks.....

Im still hoping for a special RS car around late 2005 / early 2006

1.8T for me.

Love the V6 but id want a factory turbo'd motor than a bolt on kit....

i will have a v6 bi turbo one day in some shape or form, but it would have originally started off as one from factory not a conversion...

Yep lets hope the RS3 gets the green light with a 3.2 V6 block

The note of the 1.8T is definately not very inspiring... But I love the kick of the turbo...

Best of both worlds? a turbo'd 3.2

Bring on the RS3 Audi

I like it when the turbo kicks in but having the instant power of a V6 is making me wonder what to do in the future.

The sound of any V6 is nice! But a VAG one is even nicer!!
I would have to say the 3.2! Just for the noise! when i get bored of the power! a chip get bored of that Turbo city!!

The V6 sounds so smooooooth but I love the turbo engines. Been driving one since 1996 and love the power delivery; over about 2000rpm almost any gear will do......I expect the V6 is really flexible but surely does not have the same sort of kick. Back to back test needed.
