Home page (site) design ...

Have a few ideas for the home page but wanted to get feedback on expectations. Basically ... what is the home page going to serve as: a gateway/splash/entry page; an information portal with news and such; etc.?

One idea is to showcase the "three generations" of RS, with an RS2 set against and RS4 and RS6 (Avant) ... and an RSR as a backdrop "illusion" kind of thing.

Another idea is sort of a high-tech collage of RS cars, though this might be a bit graphic intensive for poor dialup users.

Finally, something artsy with images of RS cars made to look like photograph proofs (or slides), then broken up for effect, set against some cool techno looking background.

Also, if you guys are looking for more than just a flashy graphic (not a "Flash" graphic) ... it'll require all other pages to match. This might take some work so the UBB forums "nest" neatly in the overall layout.

Post some ideas... Sounds interesting. Not sure what we are going to do withthe front page yet. Might have a dummy page for web crawlers to read. Here's one I did earlier....

Post some ideas...

Well ... it'll take hours to create any given concept, so I want to narrow the focus so I don't waste a bunch of time on one idea when everyone would like to see something else. If I could easily throw something together to help show what I outlined above ... I'd do it.

I'd like to avoid using anything too similar to the action shot of you/your car used on ECC though.

you might have to have an animated and a static version

so as rob says you can ease the pain for dial upusers

if it is animated you can press "skip intro" to just display an image?

I also like the idea of the generations of cars, but we need to include the S cars as we are appealing to that audience also

Don't think there will be any animation. If you guys know someone skilled in Flash (Mark L perhaps), then you could have a sweet animation done up for the homepage. But I'm no Flash expert and will thus only present a static image. It could be done as an animated gif, but you'll lose some image quality and can potentially effect file size / download rates negatively.
