Copart bought…RS4 Avant in Daytona Grey

Post by robmorris85 » Fri Jan 31, 2025 10:38 am

Financial ruin…possibly! :?

So I took the gamble and bought a 2015 Daytona Grey RS4 from Copart. I’ve never bought through an auction, I’m not a mechanic and I don’t have any experience in restoring/reviving cars! I’ve always admired the cars and felt the need to mix things up a bit!!

Anyway, it arrived on the trailer and it was a mess. Horrible inside and looks like it hasn’t been driven for a while.

The initial code read came back with 16 faults but most of them were linked to a steering module

It’s been a few weeks now since the car arrived and it should be MOT’d today!

If anyone is interested in the progress, please give my channel a look…. https://youtube.com/@robmorris85?si=A5CVEf9QAh61Uavw

(Apologies in advance, I’m new to vlogging!!)

Subscribed!

What was wrong with it that it had to come through Copart?

Thanks! It is a Cat U. Not much information through Copart but it could be due to the previous owner being uninsured or they only had 3rd party cover and no one else was involved.
Who knows!

My fingers are crossed for you Rob!

If you're going for an MOT today, good luck.

Looks reasonably straight/tidy in the pics. Anything more than a good clean?
Best of luck with the repair and testing.

Sorry all, its been a while!
The car finally passed MOT and is on the road thankfully! Still lots to get done on it, but at least its roadworthy and i can start enjoying the drive.

To date, the main things completed are:

Steering module replacement and coding (TOOK AGES and needed Audi vehicle history to match the correct module number!)
Replacement rear right suspension
Full DRC recharge
New sparkplugs
New engine oil, filter and pollen
A/C re-gas
Full gearbox and diff services
Replacement OEM wheels - Titanium finish
Full GEO set-up alignment
New PS4s tires all round
Plus other bits like, new rear wiper motor, full interior detail (it was horrendous inside!), replacement wingmirror covers...

I'm doing YouTube videos on the progress - https://youtube.com/@robmorris85?si=ZVUMUYyKVzw7zuNK

Let me know if you have any questions about the revival so far! Cheers

Morning all,
Some update pics
When I won the car from Copart, it came with 4 different tyres on. All different makes and one was the wrong way around 🙃
After inspection, we noticed a cracked wheel too 🤦
I had thought to refurb them, but after discussions with a refurb company, we couldn’t introduce a diamond cut edge due to the rim already being quite low on the edges. So I decided to change the wheels completely.
Off with the aluminium wheels and on with the titanium! Accompanied with new PS4’s tyres all round and a much need 4 wheel alignment!! It’s transformed the feel of the car - Planted is an understatement. The thing is on rails! 🚂
The revival continues…

Hi Rob,

All looking good!

I'm also in need of some new wheels, - where did you get yours from?
