VCDS problem.

Post by steve2003rs6 » Mon Aug 12, 2024 2:25 pm

Just downloaded the latest version. Scanned the car. Cleared the faults then get function not supported by the gateway.

Deleted VCDS and did a fresh download.

Re run scan that was ok. Clear faults and get the same message. Function not supported by the gateway.

Anyone else getting a similar problem. I did not have a problem until I downloaded the latest version

Which scan did you do, auto scan or individual modules?

Auto scan. Which is the way I usually do it.

Try going to the individual modules and scan and clear them that way.

Hi all. Did a scan this morning. Car scanned normally.
Went to reset errrors and no joy.
“Function not supported by the gateway.”

So tried the other option to reset recorded faults.
Then get the error
“No response from the controller.”

I read somewhere about windows 10 being a problem if it’s running in “s”mode.
I presume that’s safe mode
Microsoft software stopping certain files from being downloaded.
Anyone on windows 10 with a similar problem after downloading VCDS release 24.7

Although it's been a week ago, so not sure of the version number, I was told to upgrade VCDS when I used it. After the upgrade process, I had to do the initial re-initialisation step again before I could use VCDS. Maybe your connection details are not quite right anymore?

Are you telling it to use CAN? What options have you got on the left of the bottom pic?

So I just tried this on mine and I get exactly the same.

I've got a feeling that the RS6 doesn't use the CAN gateway for module identification, but I don't remember doing anything special in the past to get an autoscan to work. This doesn't mean much because I don't often do autoscans and my memory is poo.

Anyway, to get it to work, choose "Audi" from the dropdown and then 4B and it'll scan all the possible modules for the 4B platform. I'm pretty sure this is what is used to do anyway, but maybe now it defaults back to CAN gateway for vehicle ID.

Ok. Couldn’t wait til tomorrow.
Tried the method you suggested Ben.
And ran auto scan.
For a minute I thought it was ok.
There was a long pause

Then got “function not supported by the gateway”

Weird. Worked fine on mine. Including deleting the gaily coded.

Only other thing i did was increase the CAN timeout from 0 to 100
